Malaysia's Perodua sees sales rising 5.6 percent

Malaysia's biggest automaker, Perodua, expects sales to recoil this year and grow 5.6 percent, bolstered by an money-making recovery and the launch of a new multipurpose instrument, its managing director said Tuesday.

Perodua aims to tell on 176,000 cars this year, up from 166,700 units last year, when sales shrank by 5.5 percent mid a recession, said Aminar Rashid Salleh.

He said monthly sales hit a make a notation of high of 18,500 units in Demonstration. In the first quarter, sales soared 24.5 percent from a year earlier to 47,800 units, he said.

"Based on the thrust of the first quarter and the traditionally regular demand in the second direction, we foresee we will most likely assemble our sales target of 176,000 by year end," he told reporters. "We promise to sell more than this target."

The Malaysian Automotive Joining expects total auto sales in Malaysia, Southeast Asia's biggest commuter car market, to rise 2.4 percent this year to 550,000 vehicles. The compactness is expected to grow by 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent after a dip last year.

Perodua Expects Automotive Industry To Recover Next Year

Perodua has prognostication that the Malaysian automotive effort will recover slightly next year, with the house's total industry book (TIV) expected to reach 165,000 units.

This is agree to Perodua's historic high of 167,000 units in 2008.

Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd president of sales and after sales segmentation, Ahmad Suhaimi Mohd Anuar said, Perodua expects sales to reach 158,000 units by year end.

"We ahead to sales to pick up in the shift half of the year driven by the request for new cars for the festive occasion as well as the launch of our MPV this November," he said during the pitch of "The Star Power of 9 Counter" on Thursday at the Perodua showroom here.

Suhaimi stated that the Malaysian automotive bustle's performance is a lot better when compared with others in most parts of the life.

"For Perodua, we did better than the market, dropping justified over seven percent in the first half of 2009.

"The Malaysian automotive industriousness's performance for the first six months is within our expectations. Thoroughgoing TIV was down nearly 11 percent to 249,000 units from the 278,000 units in the same duration last year.

"We expect the TIV to agreement between 10 and 12 percent this year to between 480,000 units and 490,000 units," Suhaimi said.
