Concession
I have to accept that I am unlikely to get round to completing the confabulation about my Wales Trip reasonable now. And in the meantime, the days are flying heretofore and everyone is in the dark (not because of lack of excitement!)about what’s happening over here. So I have absolute to just post my journal of what happened day by day since I’ve been here (which will be of restricted interest) and start afresh with a every day blog for the remaining month before I upon home. I know a annals is impersonal but I reassure myself that it is valuable by thinking of the pleasure I have had prosperous through Grandpa Walters’ diaries and letters and piecing together his living. So here goes – this is what happened up until yesterday:-
Wed 18th JunPre-eminentlySara came vicinity in the afternoon with Renee Herselman, to say goodbye to me and to concentrate Gemma to go and stay with her for a while. Stru is to deferment with the Peacockes over the weekend as Liam feels it would be unsafe for the children to be with him during the run-up to the elections. Derek and Joe took me to the airport to snag my flight to Gatwick via Lilongwe. Jan Selby was on the same exodus as me.
Thur 19th Jun When I woke in the morning, the fare beside me, a young Muslim man, initiated chit-chat, during the course of which, I discovered that he was well one another with Victor Cohen and relations, seeing Victor almost common. His business was near Eurotec. He was coming to London for a violate of a week, during which he intended wandering around by himself. Arrived at 0745 but didn’t get through until after 0900 as all waiting for belongings on carousel. No sign of Alec. Done went outside to bus blockage 1 which was a smoking area and found a lady from Athol Evans who I had met in the smoking scope at Harare Airport, the foregoing evening. She offered the use of her phone to try and reach Al but we didn’t get through before her lift arrived. By now, it was about 1000 so I went back into the concourse, where Al and I finally met up. He had finished work at 0400, then discontinuous down on the way, with an electrical fault, and had to call AA for steal. He arrived at the south maximum just after 0900 but we must have missed each other. Anyhow, once we had relocated Al’s car (we were looking in the orange bays when it was in point of fact in the blue bays) we set off for Oxford, hoping that Lys would be capable to collect me from there, rather than Al driving up to Moreton-in-Slough as he had to be back at work at 5 p.m. and had still not slept. We met Lys in a parking field nearby but Lys was unsure of the course out of Oxford and we ended up intriguing a long detour, which resulted in her being belated for her afternoon’s employment to bathe a exhaust the Rectory between 2 and 5 p.m. This upset her as she had a later commitment to meet some kinesiology as she had been aching from the cleaning job – so could not stoppage later to make up her duration. She was a little disgruntled with the cleaning job anyway as the employers were depreciating of her work and had not increased her pay to £10 after the first fortnight, as had been agreed. Lys asked me to phone Sue and ask her to observe me at Bugeons, the supermarket neighbourhood their home at 2 Harvard Minuscule, which she did, together with their new dog, Byron, who had been collected that morning. Sue and I came back to Lys’ residence where Sue made me a cup of tea and we sat outside, having a cigarette and chatting for a while before Sue took Byron for a lurch. Lys had told us not to expect her back until about 6 p.m. Cher phoned from Wales, welcoming me to Mud Holm.
